Kody Williams to Join UWA Men's Hoops for 2013-14

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – First year University of West Alabama men's basketball coach Mark Downey has announced Kody Williams as new addition for the Tigers in the upcoming 2013-14 season.

Williams, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound junior point guard will join UWA after transferring from Loyola University in Chicago where he saw limited action.

Before his stint at Loyola, the Niceville, Fla. native started 17 of 28 games at Tallahassee Community College in the 2011-12 season.  He led the Eagles with 4.1 assists per game and also pitched in 4.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest.

Williams began his college career at the University of Southern Mississippi after graduating from Niceville high school in 2010. He was named as his high school's Most Outstanding Player by leading Niceville to the 5A-1 district championship, 5A regional championship and a berth in the State Final Four. He was chosen as the Northwest Daily News All-Area Player of the Year. An all-around athlete Williams also lettered in football and track and was a Panhandle All-Star selection in football.
