Oliveira Named Assistant Tennis Coach at West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Barbara Oliveira has been named assistant tennis coach at the University of West Alabama, according to an announcement today by head coach Jeff Beaman. Like Beaman, Oliveira will work with both the men and women's teams.

"We are excited to have Barbara join our coaching staff, she is a passionate coach and high level player that is also very familiar with the Gulf South Conference," Beaman said. "I signed her at the University of Idaho in 2007, but things did not fall into place. We have stayed in contact throughout the years, so it is great to have things come together now."

Oliveira played collegiately on nationally ranked teams at the University of West Florida and Seminole State College in Oklahoma. She played at UWF in 2010 and 2012, sitting out an injury redshirt season in 2011. At Seminole she was ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation and No. 2 in the region in both singles and doubles.

She also won several state and national tournaments in both singles and doubles while playing Juniors in Brazil for Belo Horizonte. In her native Brazil, Oliveira was ranked No. 1 in the nation and No. 348 in the world in Juniors. She had a career-high women's pro WTA rank of 1069.

Oliveira earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from West Florida in 2012.
