At the conclusion of his playing career, Brett Gilliland had posted four of the top 10 single game passing performances in school history, including a then school-record 470 yards against Valdosta State in 2002.  A magna cum laude graduate at UWA, he was a two-time member of the GSC All-Academic Team and a finalist for the GSC Top Eight Award on two occasions.  As a senior Gilliland was runner-up for the GSC Commissioner’s Trophy, which goes to the top male athlete in the league.

Gilliland currently coaches wide receivers and serves as the football recruiting coordinator at Georgia Southern University.  A four-year letterman at quarterback for UWA from 2000-03, he was a regional finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy and an All-GSC performer.  He still holds several UWA passing records and finished his career with 6,689 yards passing and 36 touchdowns while completing 59-percent of his passes (579-of-980).

Brett’s father, Ronnie, was a member of the UWA 1971 National Championship Football team.
