Dee Outlaw, a native of Jackson, Ala., began his career at West Alabama as a student assistant in the office of sports information, and was named the University's first fulltime sports information director in 1975. After a successful 21-year career promoting Tiger Athletics, he was named Assistant Athletic Director before taking over as fulltime Athletic Director in 1994. As Athletic Director, he was instrumental in the development of the UWA Softball Complex and helped spearhead the additions of men's and women's intercollegiate cross country and rodeo. Outlaw has staffed thousands of athletic events, including every Tiger football game from 1972-2005, a streak that stands at 359 consecutive games. He also served on the NCAA Baseball Committee and the Division II Management Council.
