University of West Alabama Athletics

Dr. R.T. Floyd, a native of Montgomery, Ala., has been a fixture in the UWA Athletics and Physical Education Department for more than 30 years. He began his career at West Alabama in 1974 as the Head Athletic Trainer and served in that capacity until 1998. Floyd received a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 1980 and a Master of Arts in Teaching in 1982 from UWA, before earning a Doctorate of Education in Human Performance Studies from the University of Alabama in 1995. Floyd has served as chairperson for the Department of Physical Education and Athletic Training and served a two-year term as the Faculty Senate President.
