Sarah Ray has been named the Gulf South Conference pitcher of the week for her performance in three conference series last week.
 
A junior from Yuma, Ariz., Ray went to the circle three times and picked up wins in each attempt to earn her first career GSC Pitcher of the Week award. Ray is 8-1 this season with a 2.37 ERA. She has struck out 24 and walked just seven in 43 1/3 innings.
 
She strung together three impressive performances last week, starting with a complete-game win over West Georgia, where she scattered seven hits and allowed one earned run. Ray then went five innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out five in a 3-2 win over No. 1 Valdosta State. She closed out her week by pitching 5 2/3 shutout innings in a 1-0 win over West Florida.
