Anna Shartzer has been named the Gulf South Conference softball player of the week. Shartzer was solid at the plate and in the field as she earned her first GSC Player of the Week award. The junior from Gulf Shores, Ala., had a league-high eight hits last week with multi-hit performance in three games.
 
She had two hits in both ends of a doubleheader against Shorter, and then went 4-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBI in a win over Union. The first baseman was also perfect in 16 chances in the field.
