LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women's basketball team returns from the Thanksgiving holiday break to host nationally top-ranked Arkansas Tech on Saturday, Nov. 27. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at www.uwaathletics.com.
The Tigers – who are 2-0 on the season – are coming off a hard fought 57-51 victory at Talladega College on Tuesday evening. UWA recorded 36 of its 57 points in the paint – outscoring the Lady Tornadoes by 32 points inside.
Latashia Greer paced a trio of Tigers in double figures as the Dadeville, Ala. product tallied 15 points. Mystee Dale added 12 points with 10 points coming from
Alexis Hewitt – off the bench. Dale, LaShandra McCoy and
Keiara Middleton each pulled down a team-best six rebounds in the victory.
Dale and Greer lead the Tigers offensively this season as the duo is averaging double figures in the scoring column. Greer leads the way 14.5 points this season while Dale is scoring 12 points per game. Dale – a Laurel, Miss. native – is also the Red and White's leading rebounder as she is averaging just shy of 10 boards per outing.
Tech enters the Saturday contest 4-0 on the year and averaging 104.5 points per game this season. Natalia Santos leads three Golden Suns averaging double figures. Santos is averaging 21.5 points per contest just ahead of teammate Jenny Vining who has scored an average of 20 points on the season. Jessica Weatherford rounds out the three double figures scorers for ATU with 12 points per game. Vining and Santos were named to the All-Gulf South Conference West Division Preseason Team.
Following Saturday's tilt, West Alabama returns to action on Monday, Nov. 29 as UWA hosts Harding. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
