Tigers Host No. 1 Delta State

LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- For the second time in six days the University of West Alabama women's basketball team puts its unblemished record on the line against the nation's top ranked team as UWA (4-0) hosts Delta State on Thursday, Dec. 2. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at www.uwaathletics.com.

The Tigers – who are off to the best start since the 1994-95 campaign - are looking for their third straight win over a Gulf South Conference West Division foe after upsetting previously top ranked Arkansas Tech and pushing past Harding earlier in the week.

Mystee Dale – the recently named GSC East Division Player of the Week - paces the Red and White on the season as the Laurel, Miss. native is averaging 17.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Latashia Greer – the reigning GSC East Division Co-Player of the Year - is also providing double digit scoring efforts as the Dadeville, Ala. product is averaging 11.3 points per contest and ranks second on the team in boards with 6.0.

The Lady Statesmen (5-0) entered the season with their highest ranking in the Sandra Rushing Era at No. 2 in the nation. Sarita Cooper - the NCAA assists leader the last two seasons - has dished out 30 assists this season. Veronica Walker – who was the GSC's West Division Player of the Year a season ago - is averaging 16.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

Thursday marks the 42nd meeting in series history as the Lady Statesmen lead the all-time series 38-3, including an 85-57 win in the first round of last season's GSC Tournament.

Following the contest, West Alabama strikes out on a five-game road swing - before the holiday break – beginning with the Valdosta State hosted Days INNvitational. UWA will face Talladega College on Dec. 4 and Georgia Southwestern on Dec. 5. Both tip-off times are scheduled for 1 p.m. CST.
