Tigers Conclude Season with Loss to Delta State

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – Veronica Walker and Moe Bell combined for 59 of Delta State's 85 points as the University of West Alabama women's basketball team was eliminated from the Gulf South Conference Tournament Thursday evening 85-57.
 
Bell led all scorers with 33 points, 24 in the second half, as Walker, the GSC West Division Player of the Year, supplied 26 points in the win. Bug Cooper paced the Green and White on the board with seven boards.
 
GSC East Division Co-Player of the Year, Latashia Greer and Keiara Middleton led the Tigers offensively. Greer and Middleton each posted 14 points. Greer and Jenni Thomley, who played her final game in a Tiger uniform, each pulled down four rebounds.
 
The Red and White trailed by seven at the intermission, 32-25, but witnessed the Lady Statesmen open the second stanza with an 18-6 run to push its margin out to 47-32. A Bell three-pointer with four ticks on the clock gave the Green and White its largest lead of the game, 28 points, and set the DSU school record for three-pointers in a game. 

West Alabama, which made its 16th appearance GSC Tournament and fifth straight, concludes the season at 9-19.
