LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women's soccer team (6-9, 1-4 GSC) hopes to improve its Gulf South Conference record this weekend when the squad travels to Valdosta, Ga., to face Valdosta State on Saturday. Start time is slated for 3 p.m.

UWA enters the contest having lost three-straight dating back to the Oct. 11 defeat to Christian Brothers. Since then, the Tigers have fallen against non-GSC member Lindenwood and conference foe North Alabama. The current streak comes after the Red and White won three-straight in early October, including a 1-0 triumph over Delta State on Oct. 8.

In the school's inaugural soccer season, the Tigers have been paced by freshman
Nicki Gears. Through 15 contests, Gears has six goals in 25 shots on goal. Meanwhile, teammates
Natalie Perry and
Nicola Gibson are second on the team with four goals scored each.

Valdosta State enters Saturday's contest at 10-4 on the year after falling to Anderson State on Wednesday. The Blazers had won four of their last five before that loss.

Following Saturday's match, the Tigers head to Carrollton, Ga., to take on West Georgia on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
