LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Returning home for the first time in nearly three weeks, the University of West Alabama women's soccer teams makes its way to Tiger Stadium on Friday to host Valdosta State in a pivotal Gulf South Conference contest. Kick off is set for 5 p.m.
Currently, the Tigers are second in the GSC standings -- just behind second-ranked and undefeated West Florida. Even though Friday's game does not count toward league standings, UWA is 6-5-2 overall on 4-1-1 in the conference, while VSU stands at 10-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the GSC.
West Alabama enters the contest having won four of its last seven games on the season. The Tigers are looking to bounce back after dropping two hard-fought contests against NCAA Division II powers West Florida and Palm Beach Atlantic last week.
UWA is led by sophomore forward
Nicki Gears, who paces the squad with 13 goals scored and nine assists. Valdosta State is led by Rebecca Miller, who has scored four goals and has four assists this year.
Following Friday's game, UWA hosts West Georgia on Sunday at 1 p.m.
