PENSACOLA, Fla. – Two second-half goals by West Florida's Chelsea Palmer along with Jessica Ebanks' score with just eight seconds remaining gave the Argos a 3-0 win against the University of West Alabama women's soccer team Friday evening at the UWF Soccer Complex.
West Alabama moves to 6-4-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the Gulf South Conference with Friday's loss, while No. 2 West Florida improves to 11-0, 6-0 in the GSC with the win.
The Tigers went toe-to-toe with the undefeated Argos for a large portion of the game until Palmer's first score 65 minutes into the contest. Just two minutes later, Palmer scored her second goal of the game and gave her team the 2-0 advantage.
UWF then added to its total in the final seconds as Ebanks scored to give the Argos the 3-0 win.
West Florida's Sarah Story was the winning goalkeeper and had an impressive night for her team with four saves in 90 minutes. UWA's
Jess Martin picked up the loss after recording seven saves in the contest.
West Alabama now travels to Lake City, Fla., on Sunday to take on Palm Beach Atlantic at 11 a.m.
