MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The University of West Alabama men's tennis team fell to Barry University Monday as the Bucs swept the singles courts on their way to the 8-1 triumph.
The lone win for West Alabama came at the first doubles position where the Tiger tandem of
Nestor Vargas and
Adam Drysdale ousted the Bucs duo, 8-6.
Following that victory, UWA fell in the next two doubles courts to put the score at 2-1 in favor of Barry going into singles play.
That trend carried over onto the final six courts as Barry used a dominating to performance to win five of the six spots in straight sets. At the top position, Vargas battled for a third set, but fell in a bonus frame, 6-3, 2-6 (13-11).
With the loss, West Alabama moves to 9-5 on the season. The UWA women will be in action tomorrow afternoon against Barry in Miami Shores, Fla.
