PENSACOLA, Fla. – Fourth-ranked Lynn University ended what had been a storybook season for the University of West Alabama men's tennis team, defeating the Tigers, 5-1, in the NCAA Division II South Regional Two at the Carson Tennis Complex.
West Alabama ends it season 23-4 and ranked 37
th. Lynn is 17-6 and advances to meet hosting West Florida on Sunday. The Argonauts eliminated Florida Southern, 5-0, in Saturday's first match.
Nestor Vargas and
Kike Ruiz recorded West Alabama's only win in the match, 8-6, in No. 2 doubles over Max Kouyate and Alession Ianozzi.
Vargas lost to Will Wolfer (6-1, 6-2) in No. 1 singles and Vlad Cirla defeated
Anton Ivanov (6-1, 6-3) in No. 2 singles. UWA's
Simon Bardell lost his first singles match of the season (6-1, 7-6) to Lynn's Simon Gloeckner as the Knights sealed the win.
