Lambert Nets Two to Knockoff Shorter 3-0

Box Score

ROME, Ga. – West Alabama women's soccer sophomore Perri Lambert posted her first two goals of her collegiate career on her first two shots to lead the Tigers to a 3-0 victory over Shorter in a non-conference match on Friday.

West Alabama (3-2) controlled all 90 minutes of the match allowing only one Shorter (1-4) shot-on-goal. The win rejuvenates the Tigers, who entered the match off of their second loss of the season, before heading into Gulf South Conference action for the first time.

"Tonight was a great all around hard working team performance," said UWA head women's soccer coach Graeme Orr. "We defended terrific and settled down once we scored. Overall this is very positive for us before heading into conference action next week."

Sophomore Katy Morris recorded assists on both Lambert goals. Freshman Rebekah Craig entered off the bench to net her third goal of the year in the 51'.

Fellow freshman goalkeeper Issy Foster had to make only one save to tally her second shutout.

UWA will open its GSC schedule against Valdosta State on Sept. 27 on the road. The match is set for 2:30 p.m. (C.S.T.).
