LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama Women's Soccer team was announced as the sixth team in the third round of the NCAA Division II South Regional Rankings Wednesday. The final regional selections will be made Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at NCAA.com.
West Alabama (14-4-1; 8-3-1 in the Gulf South Conference) is one of five GSC teams still among the Top 10 in the South Region. The Tigers' upcoming opponent in the semifinal round of the conference tournament, North Alabama currently sits third in the region. Christian Brothers (fifth), West Florida (seventh) and Valdosta State (10
th) also made the rankings.
Sunshine State Conference opponents, Rollins and Barry lead the region in first and second place respectively, while Saint Leo and Tampa round out the rankings in fourth and eighth. The GSC and SSC champions receive automatic berths into the six-team NCAA South Region playoff. The remaining four seeds will be filled according to the rankings, with the two top-ranked teams hosting superregionals Nov. 13-16.
UWA, the fourth seed in the GSC Tournament, will take on No. 1 seed UNA Friday at 11 a.m. at Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Fla. The Lions enter the match 13-2-1 overall; 10-2 in the conference.
