LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The 23
rd ranked West Alabama men's tennis team had little trouble disposing of No. 39 Indianapolis Friday, posting an 8-1 victory at the Vaughn Tennis Center.
The win was the 10
th straight for West Alabama, who improved to 14-1. Indianapolis dropped to 6-2 with the loss.
Adam Drysdale and
Anton Ivanov, ranked ninth in the South Region in doubles play, set the tone for West Alabama by defeating the Hounds No. 1 pair of Nico Kastunowicz and Ryan Frankel, 8-5.
Nestor Vargas and
Kike Ruiz, along with
Simon Bardell and
Manuel Grossmann took No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.
Vargas, the 15
th ranked singles player in the nation, along with Ivanov, Drysdale, Bardell and Grossman all won in singles play. Indianapolis' only win in singles came when Indy's Luke Hubert remained undefeated at 8-0 with a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0(7) win over
Kike Ruiz.
West Alabama returns to Gulf South Conference play on Sunday, putting a five-game road winning streak on the line at North Alabama. The Hounds continue their spring break swing Sunday at Alabama-Huntsville.
