LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The men and women's Gulf South Conference tennis matches originally scheduled for Friday between West Alabama and Valdosta State have been rescheduled to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Vaughn Tennis Complex on the UWA campus.
The men's match features a pair of nationally ranked programs. Valdosta State comes into the match ranked 13
th in the country with a 10-3 overall record, 4-1 in GSC play. With a 19-1 overall record, 4-1 in the GSC, West Alabama is ranked 25
th. The Blazers and Tigers are fifth and seventh, respectively, in the ITA South Region rankings.
Nestor Vargas is rated by ITA as the No. 18 singles player in the nation. UWA doubles pair
Anton Ivanov and
Adam Drysdale are ranked 24
th in the nation in doubles.
The UWA women's team sports a 16-4 record, but is unranked nationally or regionally. The Tigers are 5-2 in conference action. Valdosta State, 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the GSC, is ranked by ITA at 15
th nationally and seventh in the South Region.
