BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – West Alabama midfielder
Kirsten Reilly netted two game-winning goals last week to earn Gulf South Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday. Reilly is the first Tiger to earn the honor this season.
The junior from Musselburgh, Scotland scored her first match-winner on a header in double-overtime to down Union University 2-1. She followed that up with a goal in the final three minutes against Christian Brothers University to lead the Tigers to a 1-0 victory.
Reilly has now scored the game winning goal in each of the last three matches, giving her a single-season career high of four. Her five total goals and five assists has led UWA to a 7-2 overall record, as well as the first place spot in the GSC with a 5-0 league record.
West Alabama women's soccer returns to action on Friday as it travels to Cleveland, Tenn. to take on Lee University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
