LIVINGSTON, Ala. – For the second consecutive year West Alabama will host the first round of the Gulf South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament when it faces West Georgia at Tiger Stadium on Tuesday.

The match will mark the third straight trip to the tournament, which is reserved for the top six teams in league, for the Tigers, who ended the regular season 10-5-1 overall and finished fourth in the GSC regular season standings at 8-3-1. West Georgia ended its season 9-7-1and garnered the fifth seed with a 7-4-1 conference record.

"We are delighted to be playing at home, that is the most important thing," said UWA head coach Graeme Orr.

"One of our objectives at the start of the season was to make the GSC Tournament, and to make the top six in our conference is no easy feat. Once we were confirmed in the post season, we just wanted to finish as high as we could, and by doing that we were granted home field advantage. Now we have to utilize that to our advantage. We played them at home late in the season, but we will be able to look back at that game and make some adjustments."

UWA is 6-2 on its home pitch this season, but will look to avenge its last home loss which came against the Wolves in a 1-0 defeat in overtime last Wednesday. Home field advantage proved effective for the Tigers last season when they knocked off Christian Brothers 2-0 in the first round to advance to the semifinals in Pensacola, Fla.

"There is nothing like playing at home midweek," Orr said. "Last week the fans really got behind us. We will look to have great energy on the field but having that kind of energy from of our fans again will really help us build on that."

West Alabama has outscored its opponents 31-16 this season. The offense has been shared by nine different Tigers finding the net this season, but is led by All-GSC midfielders Kirsten Reilly and Katy Morris who, combined, have accounted for 15 Tiger goals. This season alone, Reilly established the program record of seven game winning-goals and Morris set the single-game record with four goals against Georgia Southwestern.

On defense, UWA is led by one of the top goal keepers in the league, Issy Foster. She also owns a school record this season, leading the conference with seven shutouts. She is only two wins away from breaking her previous record of most wins in the net as she now sits 10-5-1.

The winner of Tuesday's match will advance to the semifinal to face North Alabama, who will host the semifinals and the championship matches on Nov. 6 and Nov. 8.
