West Alabama Women Look to Continue Fast Start on Tuesday

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – With a pair of wins that went down to the wire to open the season, the University of West Alabama women's basketball team is looking to continue its fast start when it hosts Stillman College Tuesday at Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.

The Tigers come into the matchup with a 2-0 record after defeating Spring Hill College by a combined three points in two games to open the season. UWA defeated the Badgers 66-64 at home on Nov. 15 and 68-67 in overtime in Mobile this past Friday. Stillman comes to Livingston after defeating Selma University and Carver College

"I am proud of this team for doing what we needed to do to win basketball games," Tiger head coach Rusty Cram said. "This is a very young team that is growing and getting better with every game we play.

"We are different team than we were when we started practicing on Oct. 15," Cram said. "We will be a better team at the end of this month, different and better still at the end of December."

West Alabama has three players averaging in double figures, with sophomore Moejha Calmes leading the way at 14.5 points per game. Ariel Wilson, a transfer from Belhaven, is averaging 12.0 points and Latisha McCullum 10.5. Catherine Taylor, a transfer from Tennessee Tech, leads the Tigers in rebounding with 6.0 per game.
