UWA Men’s Tennis Opens Season With Two Wins

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's tennis team opened the 2015 spring season with a pair of wins at Tuskegee on Thursday. UWA won both matches 6-0.

The Tigers swept the three doubles matchups in each match to set the tone and then closed the deal in each match with three singles victories.

Opening match doubles winners were Manuel Grossmann and Adam Drysdale scored an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles, Christopher Wood and Andrii Stratilenko won 8-4 at No. 2, while Caspar Schuetze and Nicolai Jochamowitz took an 8-3 victory at No. 3.

Doubles partners changed in the second match, but the outcome was the same. Wood and Stratilenko won 8-2 at No. 1, while Schuetze and Jochamowitz posted an 8-2 win at No. 2. Drysdale and Prabh Bal took No. 3 by an 8-0 score.

Drysdale defeated OShane Trail, 6-4, 6-4 in No. 1 singles of the opening match, while Stratilenko beat Dominique Northcide, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. Schuetze was the winner at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2, over Andrew Knight.

Stratilenko defeated Knight at No. 2 singles in the second match. Grossmann was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Brandon Sewell at No. 5. Bal defeated Reginald Richardson at No. 6 in the second match, 6-3, 6-3.

West Alabama continues its road swing Friday at Georgia Regents.
