PENSACOLA, Fla. – Brigham Young University-Hawaii scored victories over West Alabama in both men's and women's tennis Wednesday at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of West Florida. The Seasiders beat the UWA men, 6-3, and defeated the Tiger women, 8-1.
The BYU-Hawaii men improved to 12-6 with the win, while West Alabama dipped to 4-4. The Seasiders women improved to 22-1 with their seventh consecutive victory. The UWA women dropped to 4-4.
The West Alabama men got off to a good start with
Adam Drysdale and
Manuel Grossmann winning No. 1 doubles, 8-6, but the Seasiders would take the remaining two doubles courts and four of six singles courts to claim the match.
Drysdale won at No. 1 singles, defeating Martin Chojnacki, 6-3, 6-4.
Christopher Woods defeated Taylor DeHoyas, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 5 singles for UWA's other win.
Shannon McEvoy beat Leah Han, 7-5, 1-6 (10-5) for West Alabama's lone win in the women's match.
The West Alabama men and women finish their spring break swing by play Gulf South Conference opponent Delta State in Orange Beach, Ala., on Thursday. Both matches get underway at 10 a.m.
