Tigers Drop Regular Season Tennis Finale to VSU

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – With the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Gulf South Conference Tennis Tournament on the line Valdosta State defeated West Alabama, 5-0, in the regular season finale for both teams Thursday at the AUM Tennis Complex.
 
With the victory the Blazers head into the GSC tourney as the No. 2 seed with a 13-6 overall record, 8-1 in conference matches. West Alabama will be the No. 4 seed and ends the regular season 8-5 and 6-3.
 
The Tigers will face fifth-seeded Alabama Huntsville in the quarterfinals of the GSC Tournament at the O'Conner Tennis Center at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Valdosta State meets seventh-seeded Shorter at Lagoon Park at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
 
Valdosta began Thursday's match by winning all three doubles courts and closed out the match by handily winning at No. 2 and 3 singles. The remainder of the singles courts did not finish.
