Tigers Fall in GSC Road Clash, 4-0 to Argos

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Emily Vogler both opened and capped off the match for West Florida as the No. 17 Argos defeated West Alabama 4-0 in Gulf South Conference women's soccer action at the UWF Soccer Complex on Sunday.
 
The Argos improve to 13-3 on the season, remaining perfect in league play at 10-0. The Tigers fall to 9-6-1 overall, dropping to 6-3-1.
 
Vogler netted the eventual game-winning goal in the fourth minute, putting UWF ahead 1-0. Marjorie Boilesen and Sara Helgadottir each grabbed assists on the score.
 
Alisa Festagallo crossed the ball into Kelsey Ward, leaving the Argos' forward in a one-on-one with the keeper. Ward placed the ball in the back of the net in the 30th minute, giving UWF a 2-0 advantage they took into the half.
 
Leonie Kreil improved West Florida's lead to 3-0 in the 64th minute, taking a hard cross from Kaljit Atwal and hitting the back of the net.
 
Atwal picked up her third assist of the night after her corner kick found Vogler deep in the Tiger penalty area. Vogler's seventh score of the year gave UWF a final 4-0 lead in the 81st minute.
 
Katelyn Burkhart (12-1) earned the win, making two saves on five shots faced after replacing Emily Grammer in the sixth minute of the contest. Issy Foster (9-6-1) four saves while facing 21 shots in the loss.
 
The Tigers will continue at home for their last regular-season match, facing off against Alabama Huntsville in GSC play on Friday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
