Tiger Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 4 West Florida

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – A win in No. 2 doubles was all West Alabama could muster against West Florida in the opening Gulf South Conference men's tennis match of the season. The Argonauts dispensed of the Tigers, 8-1, Friday at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
 
No. 38 West Alabama dropped to 1-1 overall, 0-1 in GSC play. Fourth-ranked UWF improved to 2-0 and 1-0.
 
UWA's Julius Kaverinen and Christopher Wood managed an 8-4 victory over Juan Pablo Boada and Pedro Roese at No. 2 doubles. West Florida claimed the other two doubles matches and swept the singles.
 
West Florida's Kenny Brasil and Alex Peyrot defeated Caspar Schuetze and Henrik Sinkko 8-3 at number one doubles. Pablo Borrero and Sebastian Sanchez beat Nicolai Jochamowitz and Andrii Stratiienko 8-6 at number three.
 
Peyrot downed Kaverinen 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Brasil won at No. 2 singles 7-5, 6-1 over Schuetze. Boada beat Wood at No. 3 singles 7-5, 6-1 and Sanchez downed Jochamowitz 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4.
 
Douglas Boe downed Stratiienko 2-6, 6-1, 11-9 at No. 5 five singles and Pablo Tellez took care of Sinkko at No. 6 by a 7-6, 6-2 margin.
 
West Alabama dips out of GSC play by hosting Stillman Saturday at 11 a.m.
