CLEVELAND, Miss. – Kaitlin Moore tallied four runs batted in on three hits to lead Delta State to a double header sweep of West Alabama in Gulf South Conference Softball action on Friday. Moore brought in the game winning run on a single in the seventh inning of game one in a 3-2 victory, later leading the Statesmen to a 9-1 victory in game two.
The wins lift Delta State to a 5-0 start in GSC play, while improving to 13-4 overall. West Alabama falls to 7-7 overall and 0-5 in the league.
"We played a solid first game and just came up a hit short," said UWA head coach
Will Atkinson.
"Some days you do everything right and still fall short of the win. We put ourselves in a hole early in the second game, and the adjustments we made were too little too late. This is a young ball club and their future is bright. I love this ball club and am proud of their effort."
The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning of game two, with RBIs by
Devan Hines and
