AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of West Alabama men's tennis team managed just a win at No. 1 singles on the way to an 8-1 loss to 20
th-ranked Augusta University Thursday at the Newman Tennis Center.
UWA's
Caspar Schuetze and
Julius Kaverinen defeated Patrick Oliveira and Nameer Shamsi of AU by an 8-4 margin, but Augusta won all remaining matches to clinch the victory.
The Jaguars improved to 13-3 with the win. UWA slid to 9-7.
"The men are a bit beat up right now," Tigers head coach
Jeff Beaman said. "We are looking forward to an off day on Friday to get ready for our match Saturday against nationally ranked Georgia College."
