UWA Men’s Tennis Closes Spring Break Trip with Loss at Georgia College

MILLIDGEVILLE, Ga. – West Alabama's men's tennis team closed out its spring break trip with a 5-0 loss to No. 13 Georgia College Saturday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
 
Georgia College improved to 11-5 overall with the win. The Bobcats are now 10-1 in home matches. West Alabama dropped its third straight match and saw it's record dip to 9-8. The Tigers were 1-3 on the spring break trip that saw UWA play four road matches in five days.
 
The Bobcats had little trouble in the doubles competition, posting 8-3, 8-5 and 8-4 wins. Taylor Powell then beat Julius Kaverinen 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Christian Graff defeated Christopher Wood 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 to end the match. The other four singles matches were unfinished.
 
West Alabama hits the road again Monday for a Gulf South Conference match at Alabama Huntsville. The match starts at 2 p.m. The Tigers will close the 2016 season by playing their final 13 matches either on the road or at neutral sites.
