FSC Extends UWA Skid with 6-3 Defeat of Tigers

LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles to notch a 6-3 men's college tennis victory over West Alabama Tuesday at the Warden Tennis Center.

No. 38 Florida Southern improved to 9-6. West Alabama lost for the sixth consecutive time and dropped to 7-12. FSC is ranked ninth in the NCAA Division II South Region and UWA 10^th.

West Alabama's singles wins came from Julius Kaverinen, who defeated Fabian Lundberg 6-1, 6-3, along with Christopher Wood, who defeated Miguel Alvarez-Hevia 6-2, 6-1.

Kaverinen and Henrik Sinkko won at No. 1 doubles, 8-4 over Laurent Mailloux and Miguel Alvarez-Hevia.

West Alabama does not return to action until an April 4 match at Jackson State.
