Tiger Men Beat Christian Brothers, 6-0

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama men's tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches by defeating Christian Brothers, 6-0, Saturday at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
 
The victory improves the Tigers to 5-3 overall, 3-0 in Gulf South Conference play. Christian Brothers is 6-6 and 0-2.
 
"This was a good win for the men," UWA coach Jeff Beaman said. "They went out and took care of business against a much-improved Christian Brothers team."
 
West Alabama jumped to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches. Christopher Wood and Andrii Stratiienko defeated Javier Saez and Nick Wiseman, 8-4, in No. 1 doubles, while Henrik Sinkko and Nicolai Jochamowitz beat Daniel D'Alto and Austin Essary, 8-4, at No. 2. Julius Kaverinen and Anwesh Roy completed the sweep by beating Max Wilson and Nick Cotros, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles.
 
Kaverinen defeated Saez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Stratiienko beat D'Alto 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 and Jochamowitz downed Wilson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. No. 2, 4 and 6 did not play.
 
West Alabama is host to Mississippi College in a GSC match on Thursday. Match time is 2 p.m.
