West Alabama, Mississippi College Split Tennis Matches

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The 26^th ranked West Alabama women's tennis team remained undefeated in Gulf South Conference play with a 6-3 win over Mississippi College Thursday at the Vaughan Tennis Complex. The Choctaw men defeated UWA, 5-4.

"The women earned another good win and kept on taking care of business in conference play," UWA coach Jeff Beaman said. "The men's match was a great battle that went down to the wire against a very strong Mississippi College team."

The Tiger women set the tone early by winning on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts and then won four of six singles matches to improve UWA's record to 8-2 overall, 4-0 in the GSC. Mississippi College dropped to 4-4 and 1-1.

The Mississippi College men turned the tables on UWA in men's doubles by taking two of three matches. The Choctaws and Tigers split the six singles matches, with MC winning the first three matches and UWA No. 4, 5 and 6.

Mississippi College improved its record to 3-4, 1-0 in GSC play. UWA dropped to 5-4 and 3-1.

Both the UWA men and women are scheduled to host Delta State on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and Cameron on Sunday at 10 a.m.
