SERIES
This is the 11th meeting West Alabama and Union. The Bulldogs lead the series 9-1. UWA is 1-4 against UU at Pruitt Hall Gym.
 
TIGERS WIN IN THE SERIES
West Alabama's only win in the 10-game series came on Jan. 21 of last season, 71-62, in Livingston. Chloe Culpepper scored 14 points and nine rebounds to lead UWA. Jenna Bradberry chipped in 12 points. Jada Smith scored 18 for Union. Jada Perkins and Bria Gaines had 10 rebounds each for the Bulldogs.
 
LAST MEETING
Union held on for a 74-71 victory on Feb. 2, 2017 at Fred Delay Gymnasium in Jackson, Tennessee. Ariel Wilson scored 19 points and collected eight rebounds for the Tigers. Sara Lytle came off the bench to score 17 for Union. Bria Gaines had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
 
THE COACHES
Rusty Cram is 34-63 (.351) in his fourth season at UWA, 301-326 (.480) in his 23rd year as a collegiate head coach. Mark Campbell is 570-87 (.877) in his 19th year as a head coach, all at Union.
 
RECORDS AND RANKINGS
West Alabama is 7-9 overall, 4-5 in Gulf South Conference play. Union is 16-1 and 9-0. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 16 in the WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll and hold the top spot in the current women's South Region rankings.
 
STREAKS
Union brings an 11-game winning streak to Pruitt Hall. West Alabama has won one. UU has not lost since Nov. 25 when No. 6 Drury defeated the Bulldogs, 87-79, at the Drury Classic in Springfield, Missouri.
 
EQUALING LAST YEAR
A win against Union would give the Tigers eight wins, equaling last season's total victories with 10 regular season games to play.
 
LAST UWA GAME
West Alabama rallied back from 16 points down to win, 64-51, at Delta State on Monday. Tiger freshman Tazsa Garrett-Hammett recorded her fourth double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds.
 
LAST UU GAME
Union won its 11th straight game by defeating Valdosta State, 82-66, at home on Monday. Chelsey Shumpert scored 35 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
 
OWNING GSC WEEKLY AWARDS
The GSC has awarded player and freshman of the week nine times this season. A Union player has earned player of the week honors eight times, with six of those belonging to Chelsey Shumpert. Tiara Caldwell and Jada Perkins have also earned the honor. West Alabama's Tazsa Garrett-Hammett has earned freshman of the week honors four times this season.
