Embry-Riddle Downs Tigers, 69-56, to Close Crossover

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle had four players score in double figures and limited West Alabama to just 34 percent shooting from the floor on the way to a 69-56 women's college basketball victory Sunday on the final day of the Bahama House Regional Crossover Sunday at the ICI Center.
 
West Alabama is 0-2 and opens the home portion of the 2018-19 schedule Tuesday against Fort Valley State at Pruitt Hall Gym. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. At 2-0, Embry-Riddle travels to Flagler on Tuesday.
 
Sarah Jones scored 19 points for the Eagles to lead all scorers, converting 7-of-12 from the floor while grabbing six rebounds. Nicole Tucker chipped in 12 points, followed by Lauren Ellenberger and Sigrid Sandstrom.
 
Tucker led Embry-Riddle with eight rebounds, while Ellenberger dished out six assists for the Eagles.
 
Embry-Riddle led for just under 37 minutes of the game. The game was tied once and the lead changed hands only once.
 
Latangellia Walker led West Alabama scoring with 12 points, making 5-of-7 from the field. Elaine Field followed with 11 points and Chloe Culpepper chipped in 10 to round out double figure scoring for the Tigers.
 
J'Nyiah Daniels collected eight rebounds to lead UWA, who outrebounded Embry-Riddle 45-38. Kierra Groce had six boards for the Tigers.
 
Field had three steals, but the Tigers managed just six assists as a team and shot just 2-of-12 from behind the three-point arc.
