Tigers Travel to Take on Paine

AUGUSTA, Ga. – With fall semester final exams in the rearview mirror, the University of West Alabama women's basketball team begins a three-game Holiday stretch by visiting Paine College Tuesday.
 
The game at Paine College ends a 10-day hiatus from the court for the Tigers, now 3-5 coming off a Dec. 1 win at home over Gulf South Conference foe Mississippi College. Paine is 0-8 after losing at home to Valdosta State on Dec. 6.
 
West Alabama will finish its pre-Holiday schedule with games against Shorter and West Georgia at Pruitt Hall Gym Saturday and Monday.
 
All five Tiger losses have come on the road, while the Lions are 0-5 at their home venue, the Heal Complex.
 
Paine averages 54.8 points per game while allowing 71.6, a scoring margin of minus 16.8 points. UWA has a plus 0.6 scoring margin, averaging 70.9 while allowing 70.3 points.
 
The Tigers have scored 80 points in each of the last three games, winning two. UWA has put up 80 or more points four times this season, winning three of those games.
 
Sophomore forward Keondra Archie averages a double-double to lead PC, scoring 13.6 points and collecting 10.5 rebounds over 33.4 minutes played per game. Archie is the only Lion averaging in double figure scoring and has posted five straight double-doubles.
 
Freshman forward Yasha Merritt is the next-best rebounder for Paine at 3.6 per game.
 
Junior guard J'Nyiah Daniels and senior post player Chloe Culpepper lead West Alabama scoring at 10.4 and 10.1 points per game, respectively. Sophomore forward Tazsa Garrett-Hammett leads Tiger rebounders with 7.0 per game.
