Kirsten Reilly Signs to Play with Hibernian LFC

EDINBURGH, Scotland– Just over a year removed from her time playing with the West Alabama Women's Soccer team, Kirsten Reilly has taken her game to the next level and signed to play with Hibernian FC.

"When I was given the opportunity to sign for Hibs both myself and my family were very excited," said Reilly about joining Hibernian. "My whole family are season ticket holders at Easter Road and have been for many years. With Hibs being current Scottish cup holders, I knew that it was going to be a big challenge stepping up to play at this level but one that I was excited to do."

Since graduating from UWA in May 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Reilly played for the Heart of Midlothian Women Football Club, also known as Hearts Women FC, right after graduation to August of the same year. Then in August, the midfielder received a sports scholarship from Stirling University in Scotland to play for the both club and university squad all while working on a Master's in Sports Management. Reilly then signed with Hibernian in January.

"I really just want to improve as a player and get as much game time as I can," said Reilly. "Playing with all the Hibs players who have so much talent will really push me and help me improve as a person and a player. As a team our goal is to win the league this year and this is one that is very achievable."

While at UWA, Reilly accounted for 60 total points including 32 goals from her midfield position. The native of Musselburgh, Scotland is a former Three-time All-GSC Team Selection with appearances on the first team in 2015 and 2016 and on the second team in 2014. Reilly also a former Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-South Region First Team selection after her senior season in 2016.

"I think that after playing in America my physical strength is a lot better through training so much," said Reilly. "Playing with players from many different countries also helped me improve as I got an insight as to how football varies across the world. My confidence both on and off the pitch improved over the years and I believe that has helped my game improve too."

Hibernian is set to take on Glasgow City F.C. April 15 in Edinburgh.
