Niceville, Fla - The University of West Alabama tennis teams competed in the ECT College Showdown Friday, Oct. 8th and Saturday, Oct. 9th in Niceville, Fla as part of the Fall schedule. 

The teams were split into smaller teams and competed against each other. 

Freshman Emiri Takanishi was able to pick up a win over Southeastern Louisiana's number one player.

One men's team consisted of Marcel Hornung, Ilari Vesanen, and Lucas Hammond and they were able to knock off a strong West Florida team 4-0. 

"A great weekend of tennis and now we wait to see if Katia and Haina, who are the first alternative for doubles individual nationals, get in for this upcoming weekend. If not we have the GSC Individual Championships up next for everybody on both teams," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said.
