Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Shutout Union, 4-0

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The women's soccer team defeated Union 4-0 in the first game of the 2021 Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series.

West Alabama improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in GSC play. Union is now 0-1 on the season and in the GSC.

"I am very happy with the performance and the outcome of the game," said UWA head coach Graeme Orr. We started very strong and managed the game with good leadership. We got to prasie the ladies becasue they have been working extremley hard and went out and executed the game plan throughout."

UWA out shot the Bulldogs,13-1, and won the shots on goal battle, 9-1.

The Tigers first goal came from a penalty kick in the first minute of the game from Anele Komani. Paige Laidler added a goal at the 15:55 mark.

Just four minutes later, UWA picked up another goal from Anele Komani off an assist by Brianna Forrest to close out the first half of the game, 3-0. The Tigers out shot Union 6-1 in the first half, including 4-1 in shots on goal.

West Alabama rounded out their scoring at the 73:50 mark by Allison Garrity to set the final at 4-0.

Tabitha Weldon finished with a save in the victory over the Bulldogs.

"Paige and Anele stepped up with quality in vital moments to get us a lead and also pleased Brekel Tibbs and Ally were able to combine for the fourth," added Orr.

The Tigers return to action Saturday as the team travels to Memphis, Tennessee to take on Chrsitian Brothers at 4 p.m.
