Memphis, Tenn. - West Alabama women's soccer team continues their winning streak after defeating Christian Brothers Saturday night, 2-0.
West Alabama improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in GSC play. Christian Brothers fell to 0-2 both overall and in league play.
"I am very pleased with the results of today's match," UWA head coach Graeme Orr said. "It's always a tough battle against Christian Brothers but it was a terrific team performance. We came here and tried to match a top side and scored a couple of great goals. I hope this performance gives us momentum and energy for the rest of the season.
Tabitha Weldon displayed a strong defensive performance and finished with six saves in the victory over CBU.
The Lady Bucs out shot the Tigers, 13-5, and won the shots on goal battle, 7-2.
The Tigers first goal came late in the match from Brekel Tibbs off an assist from Lucy Critchell at the 60:04 mark.
Anele Komani added a goal at the 84:02 mark off an assist from Paige Laidler to give the Tigers the final margin, 2-0.
UWA heads to Clinton Friday to compete in another GSC match against Mississippi College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
