Tigers Come Up Short in Top 25 Tennis Battle

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Christopher Bulus picked up a win at No. 1 singles, but it was not enough as West Alabama lost to the University of Indianapolis, 6-1, Tuesday at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of West Florida.
 
Indianapolis, ranked No. 4 nationally, improved to 7-1 with the victory. West Alabama, ranked 22nd, evened its record at 3-3.
 
"We came up against a very good team today," West Alabama head coach Jeff Beaman said. "Christopher Bulus continued his great year. We are showing some positive signs, but still need to keep pushing to get better."
 
After the Tigers were swept on the three doubles courts, Bulus picked up UWA's lone win by defeating Renato Lima 6-2, 6-2. Ilia Dehodiuk took Agustin Gascia to a third set but lost at No. 3 singles. Ilari Vesanen lost in a tiebreak to Tom Zeuch at No. 2.
 
West Alabama plays No. 25 Southwest Baptist Thursday in a neutral site match in Montgomery, Alabama. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
