Women’s Soccer Faces Valdosta State in Quarterfinals

Carrollton, Ga. - West Alabama women's soccer team faces Valdosta State Sunday at 2 p.m. at University Field in Carrollton for the GSC Spring Championship Series. 

The Tigers finished the GSC regular season 3-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in GSC play. UWA finished third in Group A.

UWA is led by Anele Komani with three goals and one assist for seven points. She has 19 shots and 11 on target with one game winner.

Paige Laidler and Morgan Ongteco each have two goals on the year.

Between the posts, Tabitha Weldon has played all 578:16 minutes, allowing five goals for a 0.78 goals against average.  She has 18 saves and is 4-2-1 on the year with three shutouts.

Valdosta finished 3-1-2 and 3-0-2. The Blazers finished second overall in Group B.

VSU received a bye for the first round of the GSC Championship Series and will be considered the "home team" for the match Sunday.

The winner of Sunday's match will face the winner of Group A No. 5 Alabama Huntsville vs. Group A No. 1 Seed Mississippi College on March 27 or March 28.

The GSC Spring Championship match is scheduled for April 3 at a neutral site.
