AUM Advances with 4-3 Victory Over UWA

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 16th-ranked Auburn-Montgomery men's tennis team advanced to the semi-final round of the 2021 Gulf South Conference Tennis Championships by squeaking by West Alabama, 4-3, Thursday at Lagoon Park.
 
West Alabama ends its season with a 7-9 record. AUM advances in the GSC field with a 12-6 record. The Warhawks will meet top-seeded Valdosta State on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
 
After AUM won the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and 3, the Warhawks and Tigers split the six singles matches to give AUM the victory.
 
GSC men's player of the year Christopher Bulus teamed with Ilari Vesanen to win at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, and then defeated Muhamad Bedwan 6-4, 6-3 in No. 1 singles. Nuutti Jokinen picked up a win a No. 4 singles by defeating Francisco Jimenez 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, while Patricio Nieto downed Giovanni Bellio 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 at No. 6.
