UWA Women’s Hoops Adds Augusta Arnold

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women's basketball team is adding an accomplished student-athlete as Augusta Arnold has joined the program.
 
Arnold, a 5-foot-7 guard, was named the 2021 AISA girls basketball Player of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association after leading Southern Academy, in her hometown of Greensboro, Alabama, to the Class AA State Championship.
 
During the championship winning campaign, she averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists per game with 43 steals on the season. Arnold was named MVP of the state tournament and was an ASWA First-Team All-State selections. Her efforts allowed her to be the named to the AISA All-Star Game where she won West MVP.
 
Arnold, valedictorian of her 2021 senior class, earned the 2021-21 AISA Student-Athlete Award for playing multiple sports while pursuing advanced courses and maintaining a high GPA; she also played volleyball and softball. Arnold and the Lady Cougars won the Class AA Softball State Championship on May 8.
 
The dynamic guard is the third member of the Fall 2021 class as Mia McCarthy and Payton James have agreed to join the program.
