Women’s Soccer Returns Home to Host UAH Saturday

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Women's soccer returns home Saturday, Sept. 25 to host Alabama Huntsville in a non-conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

UWA is 3-0-1 overall and 1-0 in Gulf South Conference play after defeating Spring Hill College September 17. UAH comes to West Alabama with a 2-1-1 overall record and 1-0 record in the conference after grabbing a 3-0 victory over Spring Hill September 19.

Leading the Tiger's offense is freshman Dana Cruz with three goals for seven points. Those three goals rank Cruz as ninth in the GSC for goals scored and seventh in the GSC for points. Cruz has also recorded one assist, six shots with five being on frame, and one game winner. 

Megan Ongteco is another powerhouse for UWA's offense. Ongteco has scored two goals for six points. The Toronto, Canada native leads the Tigers in assists with two. Ongteco has taken nine shots with four being on frame and has had one game winner for UWA.

Anele Komani has also given West Alabama a strong offensive presence. The London, England native scored two goals for four points. She has taken seven shots, all being on target, ranking her ninth in the GSC for shots on goal. 

Between the posts for the Tigers is Tabitha Weldon (2-0-1). The Orange Park, Florida native has recorded 12 saves for UWA with two shutouts. Weldon leads the GSC in goals against average with a .310 average, allowing only one goal in four matches played.

UWA returns to GSC play Oct. 1 against Delta State. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
