Tigers Take Down Union 2-1 in GSC Matchup

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's soccer team defeated Union 2-1 in a Gulf South Conference match Sunday afternoon at Tiger Stadium.
 
The Tigers improved to 6-4 overall and are 5-2 in GSC play. The Bulldogs dropped to 3-8 overall and are now 2-6 in the conference. 
 
Dana Cruz scored in the fifth minute to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead. That was Cruz's sixth goal of the season. 
 
Claire Maxon from Union found the equalizer in the 66th minute. 
 
Mikayla Anderson found the back of the net off an assist from Kaylee Rivas in the 88th minute, allowing the Tigers to claim the 2-1 victory.  
 
UWA took 15 shots, seven being on goal. Union took four shots, with two being on target. 
 
Goalie Maria Mon recorded one save, while the Bulldogs' goalkeeper Rylee Iorio had five saves. 
 
There were seven fouls called in the match. The Tigers were called for three, while the Bulldogs had four.

The Tigers take on Auburn Montgomery on Friday at 5 p.m. at AUM Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Alabama.
