Women’s Hoops Takes on West Georgia on Sunday

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball team takes on West Georgia in a Gulf South Conference matchup on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.

The Tigers enter the game with an 8-3 overall record and are 5-2 in GSC play. This is the 24th matchup between the two teams. UWG leads the series, 13-10. In the latest matchup, the Tigers defeated the Wolves 66-48 in February 2022.

Bria Dent is tied for first in the GSC in scoring and ranks second in rebounds, averaging 18 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per contest. Dent ranks 16th nationally in rebounds per game and 38th in points per game. She has recorded eight double-doubles this season, tying her for third nationally.

Maryanne Logsdon averages 11.6 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, and 2.8 assists per game. Logsdon ranks 17th in the GSC for scoring and ninth in assists.

Jala Williams averages 11.2 points per game, 6.6 assists per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, and 2.3 steals per game. Williams leads the GSC in assists and ranks sixth nationally in assists per game.

As a unit, UWA averages 65.2 points per game, ranking the Tigers sixth in the GSC in offense. The Tigers limit their opponent to 57.4 points per game, ranking second in the conference.

Junior guard Stephanie Torres leads the Wolves' offense with 9.5 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game. Senior forward Peace Okeke leads UWG in rebounds, averaging 9.2 rebounds per game and 9.4 points per game.
