Tiger Tennis Wins Two GSC Matches at MC

CLINTON, Miss. – The nationally ranked UWA tennis teams were in action Tuesday afternoon and both teams picked up road wins at Mississippii College. The No. 5 ranked women's team won 6-1, while the No. 25 ranked men's team won 5-2. 
 
"Both Matches were competitive, and we had to fight hard to get these conference wins today," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said.
 
Following the win against MC, both teams have a 1-0 record 

The Tiger men swept the Choctaws in doubles competition to receive the doubles point.
 
Loic Danze won in singles 6-0, 6-0 on court four. UWA won four of the six singles courts to get the victory over the Choctaws 5-2.
 
On the women's side, Haina Franco and Katia de la Garza won in doubles 6-3 on court one. The Lady Choctaws won the other two courts to receive the doubles point. 
 
In singles competition the Tigers had a clean sweep, winning all six courts to take the match 6-1. 

Tiger tennis will return to the courts on Saturday, February 12 at Columbus State. Columbus State's men's team is ranked No. 2 in the ITA Preseason Coaches Poll while their women's team is ranked No. 7.
