Men's Tennis to Host Three Matches

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama men's tennis returns to the Vaughan Tennis Complex with one match on Sunday against Southern Arkansas at 2 p.m. and two matches on Monday at 10 a.m. against Ouachita Baptist and 2 p.m. against Spring Hill.

UWA will enter the three matches with a 3-4 overall record.

The Tigers will begin play against No. 10 Southern Arkansas on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Lucas Hammond and Marcel Hornung are ranked No. 31 in the doubles poll.

Loic Danze has a perfect 5-0 record in singles for Tigers. Ilari Vesanen is coming off a solid week winning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week and is 4-2 in singles this year.

SAU will enter the match with a 9-1 record and have won four straight matches.

The Muleriders have three players ranked in the top 35 of the singles polls. Marko Nikoliuk is ranked No. 10, Sander Jans comes in at No. 19, and Stuart Rehfuss is ranked No. 34.

Jans and Nikoliuk are ranked No. 14 in the doubles poll.

UWA will then host Ouachita Baptist on Monday morning at 10 a.m. OBU is No. 14 and is ranked No. 14 in the nation.

Francisco Oliveira is ranked No. 16 and Santiago Kearney is ranked No. 31 in the singles rankings. Both players are ranked No. 14 in the doubles poll.

Following the match against Ouachita Baptist, the Tigers will host Spring Hill at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Spring Hill is 5-8 entering the match.
