Men's Tennis Defeats Nationally Ranked Lee

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama men's tennis defeated No. 17 Lee 5-2 at the Vaughan Tennis Complex Friday afternoon in a Gulf South Conference match. The

"A big conference win against a strong ranked team. Our guys are starting to put it together and can accomplish great things this spring if we keep it up," head tennis coach Jeff Beaman said.

With the win, UWA improves to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in GSC action while the Flames fall to 8-4 and 2-3.

The Tigers started things off by sweeping doubles to go up 1-0.

Ilia Dehodiuck, Ilari Vesanen, Nuutti Jokinen, and Lucas Hammond won singles matches to help the Tigers clinch the victory over the Flames.

The Tigers also defeated Marion Military in an exhibition match 7-0 Friday evening.

UWA returns to the Vaughan Tennis Complex Sunday at 11 a.m. against Christian Brothers.
